Erasmus+ Project EDU-PACT

01-03-2018 News Startseite

The international project "Intercultural Education through Physical Activity, Coaching and Training" (EDU-PACT), funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union, is coordinated by the Center for Sport Science and University Sports of the University of Vienna.

University cooperation partners are the German Sport University Cologne, the University of Rome "Foro Italico", the University "Southern Denmark" in Odense, and the "University of Thessaly" from Trikala. Greece is also represented in the project by the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports. Furthermore, international organisations such as the International Council for Coaching Excellence / European Coaching Council (ICCE-ECC), the Vienna Institute for International Dialogue and Cooperation (VIDC), as well as the organization Right to Play Germany (RTP) form further project partners of this three-year "EU - Collaborative Partnership Project" which will be implemented from 2018-2020.

The background of this project is that the increasing cultural diversity in school and club sports confronts teachers and trainers with new challenges for which they are insufficiently trained. Based on a status and needs analysis, the project will develop guidelines, training concepts, and modules for education and training in order to better teach and supervise heterogeneous, intercultural groups in everyday school and training life.

These training tools will then be implemented in pilot projects in which multipliers will be trained, validated by internationally recognised experts and subsequently adapted. In the last year of the project (2020), but also beyond the project duration, the findings, guidelines, materials and modules developed within the project will be presented in national and international seminars, congresses and workshops and implemented in training and further education programmes for teachers and trainers.
