European Seminar & Round Table on fans’ dialogue, supporters charters and fan work

The "European Seminar and Round Table to promote inclusive and non-violent fan and football cultures" will be held as closing event of the international pro supporters project from 2nd to 4th of June in Vienna.

The pro supporters seminar, organised by Fair Play-VIDC, is all about the dialogue with football fans, supporters-charters and social preventive work with fans and provides the appropriate framework to present and discuss the results of the joint work of fans, football associations and representatives of football institutions in the past 16 months. As highlights the two freshly printed books "Socio-Preventive Fan Work in Europe" and "Supporters Charters in Europe" will be presented.

Opening at the Ute Bock Cup

The start of the seminar falls on Sunday, the 2nd of June at the "Meet & Greet" during the Ute Bock Cup in the Wiener Sport-Club Stadium, where almost 70 seminar participants from 13 different countries have the opportunity to attend the friendly tournament against exclusion and xenophobia.

Workshops and panel discussions in the “Haus des Sports”

On Monday from 10 clock, the sports ministry invites into the Mirror Hall of the “Haus des Sports”. There, the project partners present the results and findings of the pro supporters project. The three workshops will give the participants the opportunity to actively participate in the seminar.

William Gaillard, the personal adviser to the UEFA president, said,

"We have always supported and financed fan initiatives, encouraged the fans, wherever possible, in order to participate financially at their club. If clubs have a good relationship with their fans, then thousands of people are still in difficult times behind the club, all working for the welfare of the club. Thus, it is obvious to us that we support the international project "pro supporters - prevention through empowerment". We have actively participated in the working group on Supporter Charters and are of the opinion that the elaborated manual on the Supporter Charters is something that all clubs and fans should aspire."

Thomas Gassler, pro supporters project leader – Fan Work Coordination Austria, adds,

"The international pro supporters project was a milestone for the future of the Austrian and European football. For the first time it was possible to bring all “players” together and actively involve them in various projects, no matter if simple fan or senior official, and this process is already a guarantee for success. With the elaborated tools of the round tables, the supporters charters and the expertise of the professional fan workers a positive and atmospheric future for football and fan culture is in our hands."

Round Tables

On Tuesday, various concepts of round tables in Ireland, Northern Ireland, Germany and Switzerland will be presented, with the aim to pass on the expertise to the Austrian colleagues. At the end of the seminar the first round table involving all partners will take place in Austria. PDF DownloadThe detailed programme can be downloaded as a PDF here.
