With this tournament awareness for the situation and needs of LGBT-refugees (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans*gender) will be raised. People are still presecuted because of whom they love and desire or which gender they may have in many countries. Beneath all the problems and obstacles, all refugees who come to Europe to find asylum, LGBT refugees face also specific problems. E.g. sexual orientation is not an one of the accepted reasons to get asylum in the European Union and LGBTS. They are sepcifically exposed to harressment and sexual abuse - from European citizens as well as other refugees.
Beneath football there will be a lot culture and debates as well as training sessions for media. The EC-funded project Queering Football, which aims at raising awareness for homophobia and discrimination in the framework of the EURO 2016, project totally supports these activities and wishs all participants a great tournament!!!

Foot for Freedom is organised by "Les Dégommeuses", a French female Football team which does a lot more than "just" playing football: they fight against sexism, homo- and transphobia and all other forms of dicrimination.
