FRA presents its new LGBT survey

Today 17 May, on the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHO), the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) is publishing the findings of its lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) survey, the largest LGBT hate crime and discrimination survey ever conducted in the EU.

Over 93,000 LGBT people from all 27 EU Member States and Croatia completed the survey.
The findings show that many LGBT people cannot be themselves in their daily lives. Many hide their identity and live in isolation or fear, and experience discrimination and even violence. The report suggests ways EU and national policy makers can promote and protect the fundamental rights of LGBT people across the EU.

All data are accessible online via a External link in new windowdata visualisatisation tool on the FRA website, where responses to the survey questions can be broken down by group, country, age of respondents, etc.. The data is also downloadable in various formats.
