The Balkaniade is an international football youth tournament taking place annually in one of the project’s partner countries in the Western Balkan region. The tournament was initiated by the Balkan Alpe Adria Project (BAAP) and aims to foster the youth exchange through sports in the Western Balkans.
This year young players from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia, the FYR of Macedonia and Albania will come together in this sporting event in Ohrid. Besides Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian and other languages, one language is being spoken: the language of football and respect!
The tournament is organised by the football association of the FYR of Macedonia in cooperation with FairPlay-VIDC and BAAP.
In addition to the tournament, an international workshop for the athletes, trainers and international guests on the subject of “Education through Sports in the Balkans” will take place on 29 June from 14:00 to 19:00 hours in the hotel Metropol. The workshop offers an ideal platform for discussing ideas and opportunities of the inclusion of sports into the formal and non-formal education. The participants are invited to exchange ideas and present already started initiatives respectively planned activities on the workshop’s subject.
The Balkaniade and the international workshop are part of the international project "Football Unites the Alps, Adriatic and the Balkans" that is organised by FairPlay-VIDC and the Balkan Alpe Adria Project (BAAP) in co-operation with UEFA, the FAs from Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro and the FYR of Macedonia and supported by the King Baudouin Foundation.
